I trust you all had a happy Thanksgiving. My family celebrated in regular holiday fashion by lining up my nieces and nephews and making them do tricks for us while we drank wine and ate five kinds of pie. This one was called OH MY GOD I’M A DISEMBODIED HEAD.
It’s nice to be back home despite the fact that I’m suffering from one of those cold/sinus/TB/swine flu viruses that are going around. When I woke up yesterday morning with a sore throat I immediately diagnosed myself with strep which I am well acquainted with. So I called my doctor on her personal phone demanding antibiotics which she refused to give me as she suspects that I’m stockpiling antibiotics in preparation for 12/21/12. (If you don’t know what I’m talking about it’s already too late for you. Have you not seen Revolution?)
Speaking of apocalyptic, Texas A&M has agreed to pay damages—to the tune of $1000!—for discriminating against its… conservative students. (Thank you, Must Read Texas.) Apparently a lawsuit was filed against the administration by Texas Aggie Conservatives after they had “improperly refused to provide funding to help cover the costs for a speaking event for noted conservative Star Parker.”
According to TAC chairman Eric Schroeder, there is still much more to be done. “Bias and inequality still exist on campus. The left at A&M still has overwhelmingly more institutional support and funding from the university, from the president’s office down, than the conservative movement at A&M.” Seriously? When did A&M turn into Wellesley?
Of course, this story isn’t as good as the story that keeps on giving, secession. Tens of thousands of Texans have signed an official petition (including me, I love a good petition) to secede from the union. But if you wanted to legally change your middle name to “Secession,” you’re out of luck. Republican Larry Scott Secession Kilgore beat you to it. Apparently “ACryforHelp” was already taken.
